Here’s a video I made to a track from our (eventual) next release.
A few years ago I put together a “solo” EP for Cloudberry Records, who are a great independent label that releases a limited edition 3″ CD singles every month. They have put out some very cool music- dreampop, jangle, shoegaze… like the good old days in the tradition of Sarah Records, Creation, Rough Trade, etc. Check them out HERE.
I grew up on this kind of stuff so I had a great time putting this together. It’s available for download for the first time via the New Ghosts Bandcamp site.
Looks good as far as I can tell via web translator bots!
Read it here.
Translated via web translator, which is always interesting:
“Remember time when these independent labels now disappeared and which had as a name Setenta or Sarah Records filled you happiness. You watched for the least individual one in limited edition, the obscure EP in importation which you buy the full price. It is at the origin of this passion extreme and egoistic for a romantic and electric music, then reserved for most curious and best well informed among us, than returns us directly New Ghosts, young person groups originating in Chicago, with its first album “Scarecrows Against Reason”. The references do not certainly miss, Slowdive at the head of file (Simplified), and one suddenly reminds these fabulous male artists the voices of viola of which the forgotten discography drag at best in a rack, at worst in a partition of our hard disks: The Field Mice, Brian, Blade Saints. Then yes, the scarecrows in question here will dissipate all to remember fuzzy a past where information was distilled with the dropper in fanzines with the capricious publication, to allow you to listen to in loop this splendid album with the looked after realization, and which one will refuse to combine with the imperfect one. “
Our new album “Scarecrows Against Reason” and Fake Label Recordings received a nice writeup on “The Deli”, a Chicago entertainment website.
Check it out HERE.

“New Buildings”, recorded live at our Chicago show this past April, 2009.
New Ghosts are mentioned in music journalist Mick Mercer‘s “Music To Die For” book on “goth and other noir forms” of music, published by Cherry Red. This is quite an honor as Mr. Mercer has been documenting the underground music scene for decades. SUPER cool. This book is a great read either way. Fangoria Magazine has a review of it here. If only we were mentioned in Fangoria, a lifelong dream would come true…

New Ghosts were played on Break Through Radio’s “Maximum Music” show hosted by the wise and super cool DJ Mojo. Give it a listen at http://www.breakthruradio.com by searching the multimedia archive. Look for DJ Mojo’s 7/14/2009 show. We close out the show with a rare, unreleased version of “Gravity Causes Confusion“. We’re also giving that track away free if you leave a review on iTunes or Amazon for our album “Scarecrows Against Reason“. Don’t be shy!
New Ghosts are to be featured on an upcoming mp3 compilation on the ever-supportive Mars Needs Guitars blog. Stop by and check out this great site run by a super cool shoegazer. We were last featured there in 2007, with some rare mixes of “Simplified” and “Blue Night” for you to download.
Last but not least we were featured on a blog called Outside The Box in a “best of Myspace” type of post. Its a link back to our MySpace page but does feature a great review.
